Supernova (2000) ***1/2 Starring: James Spader, Angela Basset, Lou Diamond Phillips. Familiar plot lines are the primary weakness of this otherwise enjoyable, well-crafted, finely-acted sci-fi thriller. Mix the plot of Star Trek: Original Series' "Where No Man Has Gone Before" episode with the feel of Outland and throw in a satisfying-enough ending, and you've got a film that should please uncritical sci-fi fans.
